I remember when Montgomery Wards was a main source of school clothes.
I remember back in the late 60's when Wards had "lifetime batteries" for cars. I bought one and had it for twenty years or so. Of course it was replaced on an average of every three years with another "new" one. I kept my Mustang and that was the only battery that I ever had to buy for it. LOL I think they were happy when I finally sold the car and stopped coming in to their repair shop.
My dad worked for a major t.v. co (yea, they were actually made here in USA) and he was able to purchase the first color t.v. Everyone from the neighborhood came over to watch the wizard of oz (only certain scenes were in color) and we all sat there not believing what we were seeing. Weird, to think back and remember this and how far we've come.
I also remember going to a friend’s house to see the wizard of Oz in color for the first time.
That reminds me of when I went to my first baseball game in person at Yankee Stadium, probably around 5 or 6 years old. I had only seen baseball on the black and white tv, so I was shocked to see the green field and everything in color, I just didn’t expect that.
My first experience with JC Penny was in 1948 when moving to So Calif.
Bought most of my US made clothes there.
Today they are full of imported wearing apperal that make into good dusting rags for my car.
Early fall each year... Grab the old catalogs and start lining the outhouse with the pages.. the pages kept the cold wind from hitting the warm wind inside filling the cracks in the boards..

Yep. I'm so old I remember when it wasn't cool, or as they now say "awesome", to be poor.

That's how I grew up.
