Colors are complicated.
You need to read about color-addition and color-subtraction models.
And, which are different from the Sun's color spectrum which actually also includes infra-red and ultra-violet.
Sir William Herschel discovered infrared radiation by use of a prism. He put his thermometer above the red portion of the spectrum, and discovered that the temperature got even higher. I tried to replicate his experiment, but either my thermometer was not sensitive enough, or I was not patient enough. Perhaps both.
Measuring UV would be tricky. I would need a quartz window and a quartz prism. My polycarbonate glasses even block longwave black light (360nm), as I used to be able to demonstrate at work before I retired.
This wasn't me, but I have a favorite story about a friend. She's an intelligent older woman with a high-level job, but she was at a friend's house when the friend had cut down the sunflowers she grew and was breaking up the heads to get at the seeds. My friend was watching her and said, "Oh wow, they look just like sunflower seeds" and then stopped in shock. For some reason, she didn't realize that sunflower seeds come from...sunflowers. She'd only ever seen them in a bag.
She told me the story, laughing at herself.

Haha. That reminded me of something. I bought my condo in 2010. After I retired in 2016, I started doing some work from home. Parked my laptop on the dining room table, from where I could see through an opening in the wall into my kitchen.
One day I was deep in thought and found myself staring into the kitchen and noticed that there was what looked like an extra piece of wood below one kitchen cabinet and wondered why it was there.
I went to the kitchen to check it out and found that it was a pull-down knife holder that had slots for about eight knives and that there were two knives and a sharpener in it that must have been left by the previous owner. I can't see it beneath the cabinet when standing in the kitchen, so I never knew it was there. Since I live alone and worked long hours, I rarely ate at the dining room table or viewed the kitchen from that point because I would just eat in front of the TV with my food on the coffee table.
I just found out that the noise that the automatic mister in the supermarket produce department makes before it turns on is supposed to mimic thunder. I thought it was just due to loud equipment.

I wouldn't stand too close, in case they decide to start mimicking lightning, too.
I had always planned to volunteer once I retired, where my expertise would be of value. I did, but, it felt too much like work.
Switched to volunteering to be of help where I could learn something new. I am really enjoying being part of a team that does surveys to monitor the health of the inland bays. Learned how to count horseshoe crabs during spawning season. Learned how to identify, count and measure fish for a 10 year study of the health of the inland bays.
