I don't get this culture of having your face plastered to your phone 24/7. It's kind of sad. But
They are great to have in case of an emergency...but heck I went the first thirty to forty years of my life without one, and I somehow survived.
The same could be said for electricity and indoor plumbing, 200 years ago. Life went on. The world turned. But those who can say they survived are only the ones who survived. I'm sure there were people who didn't survive because they could not summon help as quickly. There's a reason it's called the Golden Hour.

Otherwise here is a nice quality video to enjoy as well to remind you that you should never leave home without your Cell Phone.
Never leave home without a phone??
Done it many times (not for out the town trips) and survived.
Left several times at work over the weekend. Survived.
Lived through pre-cell-phone era and survived.
Not worried about that at all.
I forget and leave mine home quite often. I don't even like phones.
Heaven help me if I don't answer my daughters text within a few minutes.
She's ready to call out Search and Rescue!
One reason it's so important to take a phone along with you today is the elimination of pay phones. I just read that NYC just shut down their last pay phone in Times Square.
I have my phone with me first as a matter of safety/being able to contact others, so it is of utmost importance that I have it with me and I can't remember the last time I forgot it. The entertainment value of it is also very important to me, especially at work. I listen to music while working and browse social media while on breaks. If I didn't have my phone at work I would be really distraught!!
I never take it with me when I am with someone else. Husband or friend or relative. They have one, always. I forget to take it with me quite often, I'm not a big fan of them anyway. It's something useful, I agree.
I started to use it more often in the past months, but just because my dad wants me to respond to his e-mails the moment I receive them and he has no patience, is very demanding. I edit a book for him now and I understand his motives. He has questions and I have to explain and respond fast. He lives in Europe and I'm in the US so we can't communicate 24 hours/day.
Hubby and I use the texting (IMSG) for where he can find me in the store but sometimes that gets blocked by the strong signals that the store puts out and the resulting “undelivered” can be very frustrating. What if one of us got sick or fell?
