Thanks, MM! Someone just shot off an automatic firearm on my neighborhood! I'd say they are a little bit too enthusiastic about the New Year. That's a first! LOL

Many neighbors were shooting off fireworks and banging pots and pans. But I heard five or six quick loud bursts from a firearm.

ETA:

Correction. It was a semi-automaticl, not an automatic. And it wasn't in our neighborhood afterall.

My kids just came home. They heard it from where they were watching fireworks two miles away. My son said it was a military semi-automatic rifle.

We're assuming it was fired down in the valley and it echoed on the surrounding hill sides. My house is on one hill side and they were on the other hill side two miles away.

That's freaky that you can hear the same firearm being shot LIKE IT'S RIGHT NEXT TO YOU from two different places, two miles away from one another.

I have no issues with firearms but isn't shooting them off in a residential area .... illegal? Now...of course, I live near a suburban residential area...unless you take a certain poster literally, in which case, I live practically in the "sticks".....my gosh...there are actual FARMS nearby!

Morning all! I'm happy to report it was dead quiet here in the desert. L.A. was always a war zone on New Year's Eve. (And Jan 2, Jan 3...)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Pretty quiet here too....I heard a few fireworks go off last night...that's about it. Slow day. Got a brisket in the crockpot for later on, doing some laundry and will probably have football on. I'll consider taking down the tree but will put it off until tomorrow or Monday...

Happy New Year everybody! Hope you all had a fab evening. I only just made it up past midnight. I think it's an improvement on last year when MrFR and I made it to about 9 o'clock. But on the west coast we could cheat and pretend 9 was midnight and watch the balldrop in Times Square and go to bed! Now we have to do it in real time. Oh well.

Are we having tunes today? Someone should nominate the artiste du jour.

Cool beans, mm ... this is a really haunting version of this song with fantastic orchestration.. How come Mark Knofler looks better now than he did then? Why won't that happen to me?
