No, I don't--that's why I asked. My parents never used that word, and whooping is literally the word whipping. Spanking is not whipping. Some people whip their kids, hence my question.

To the OP, no, I wouldn't spank my kid in public. I don't see a need to do that in front of others.
As someone who uses spanking along with other forms of training and discipline, I don't think it is the level of shocking behavior that determines if it is a spankable offense or not. I would say some actions (like that in the OP and the video) are crying out for a more creative response. If a parent constantly falls back on spanking as their biggest and best consequence for the worst possible behaviors (or for all behaviors) It is easy for a child to avoid learning the lesson by pure stubbornness, because of hurts, or just by being crafty. I used to run out of the house when my dad went for his belt. The longer I stayed gone the more he was being punished, not me. By the time I was 11 he was out of tools to deal with me. Intimidation only lasts so long.
I am 100% for whooping behind! I don't understand those who refuse to discipline. Lastly, If I am in the mist of discipline by design please do not approach me like some type of action hero.
