Should Spanking Be Illegal? (punishment, support, parents, children)

Well, I've checked before I posted and it looks as if this topic needs to be addressed,
Do You Think Spanking should be illegal or legal and what age should spanking stop if you support it?
My Position- I think small children should be given a swat to the behind to teach them.
As they get older- I don't support hitting children. You obviously wouldn't spank a older child, and I def don't think using a belt is acceptable, so i think it should be illegal.

I can see no justificaton for any upper age limit (and there is none in the United States). The age limit is when the child is capable of living on his or her own. Using a belt is not illegal per se.
The best state law (IMO) I can find is that of Kansas, which only prohibits "cruel and inhuman" corporal punishment--a high standard to meet (very few parents reach a level of punishment that 12 out of 12 jurors will consider cruel and inhuman).

Spankings were easy as a kid,,I would have preferred to get my butt beat than to have my parents take something away such as my dirtbike....Quick and easy was the spanking. LOL Let me add that I started riding dirtbikes at 8 years old...So the thought of that being taken away was more torture for me than a spanking.
I don't think it should be illegal. If one is lacking in foresight to think spanking is a good idea, then making it illegal won't make them replace the spanking with something that is less daft than the spanking.
