Hi there.
I'm asking because my almost 8.5 year old daughter has experienced a few changes. She now has sparse underarm hair. At 39, I honestly can't remember when the onset of puberty was. It was probably early because I remember wearing a bra at 10 and I had my first period at 11.
Then it is possible your daughter would go same as you. Honestly it depends cannot say every girl will same. My daughter is 8+ now she will be 9 with in few weeks but no sign of like that.
10-1/2 is the average age for girls. Normal puberty can start as early as 9. I don't think your daughter qualifies for early onset because that's technically before age 8. But she's definitely in the middle of early onset and normal.
I don't know what the medical definition of puberty is, but my daughter and lots of her friends went through a very stinky/BO phase about 8 or 9 which later abated. She was very private so I didn't see all the body hair stuff. She started her period a couple of months before her 12th birthday.
Both my girls started menstruating at the same age I did (13). Sounds like your daughter will start at the same age you did. My daughter's went through about 12 - 18 months of puberty before they actually started their periods.
My daughter started with signs around the age of 9. She's 11 1/2 years old now - HAS to wear deodorant or else she'll stink up the whole house, and has body hair in all the typical places. She is starting to experience greasy hair and acne on her face so we're working hard with her personal hygiene in general. No period yet, but she's been fully educated and carries supplies in her backpack just in case it starts while she's at school.
Every girl is different. I started at 8 years old but my "period" was very irregular and didn't look like a regular period. I was 10 when it started coming regularly. My daughter's body started changing when she was around 11/12 years old and she's now 13 but she still hasn't gotten her period.

Is you daughter overweight?
No, she's pretty lean.
It's crazy to think that she's getting to be that age. My husband and I still remember the little girl with the two huge braids. Between the physical changes and other changes (such as change in tastes) our "little girl" isn't little any longer. We know that and we're fine (though my husband still blanches at the thought of having to buy training bras for her, lol)
And yeah, she gets funkier now. She wears deoderant and likes the bath and body works sprays. More showers than she used to take. I was explaining to her these changes and she asked me, "so, as we get older we get stinkier?"
Gosh, it's getting younger and younger these days. I thought weight had something to do with it, but maybe not. Our 2 daughters (now both grown) started at about 13. Most of their schoolmates were around the same age, though some were later. It shocks me that it's down to ages 9-10 now! When do they get time to be children???
