a catheter because he didn't have to pee??

that's just nuts..

no right or wrong....but there seems to be very little trust between you and your son where is the father in all this??? rebellious/ distraught male teens …. will walk all over their mothers and not think twice about it..

the father needs to give a united front..

set goals....talk ..

and mother...….don't smother mother him......and then not be there when he really needs you...

Having worked in many psychiatric hospitals... The above isn't aimed at making a person feel better, it is to hold them safely until they can go to a proper treatment setting.

There is no other way to keep a suicidal person safe in the ER while waiting for an appropriate psych placement. The person cannot have access to anything with which to hurt themselves. Now, I do think the poster could have been escorted to the BR with staff and using a walker or their prosthetic leg, but would have to be watched the whole time in the BR. People can and will do anything.

You're saying to have a suicidal person just be out on his own? Are you ****ing kidding me?

I'm calling BS on this one. No one is crazy enough to treat their child this way.
