I don't know if he has always done this, but we started noticing it over a year ago. My husband was thinking it's because he doesn't like the feel of tile on his feet (that's where we take notice of him doing it).....whereas in years past we have always had carpet. I don't know if he is doing it on carpet too.....we have just been catching it on the tile.

I know that this can be a sign of autism....but he's 13..and besides just being a little.......moody.....wanting to be by himself.......and not having the best social skills......I wouldn't think of him being that at all........

Any reason why, or can it be as simple as he just doesn't like tile and perhaps it is only on that floor type? Thanks!

My D (14) has always walked on her toes, since she's learned to walk. I have never really thought twice about it until recently.

It has caused the front part of her feet to widen, because her toes splay to keep balance. Only recognized this when trying to buy her first pair of "grown up" high heels.

Mrs. Bewitched, you had this thread of your son having hard time socially,,, now this toe-walking. Maybe it's just the tile thing (I, too, can't stand the tile feeling in the mornings, (except after really hot summer nights), I have to have socks on). I read an article where a slightly off-social son at 16 led to the discovery by the parents themselves (the father, specifically), that - aha! - that's what the father has had all along. What was concidered quirkiness in the father's youth, was diagnosed as mild autism with his son (not sure if it was Asperger's). The knowing gave some respite to the whole family. How's he on the carpet or wood?
