I don't know a lot about Emporium. But I spend a lot of time in Sinnamahoning which is about 28 miles from there. I know it's a small town in the middle of nowhere. Which, if that's you - then it's great. I love the area around it. I wouldn't think there'd be a whole lot of employment there. I have heard it's the only place for groceries, school, etc... for the neighboring towns. Which are all about 1/2 hour away.Sorry I'm probably not much help but I know a little.

i know they have a sheetz gas station in town, it is a great place. it is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, has kerosene and has all kinds of essentials. i have visited there a few times, it is very peaceful, however some would consider it boring. they have lots of state parks nearby. johnsonburg about an hour west has a huge paper mill that employs a lot of people.

Emporium is a very nice town it is hard on teenagers, because there really is'nt any thing for them to do, once apond a time when I was a child and my dad would take us back to visted his family and my mom's family we would go to the movies that use to be there in town well that is now the libary, it is'nt like it was when i was a child, but you still had that family feeling, How I would love to have that again, But nothing is the same as it was,My father was in the Air Force and we travel all over, but I loved going home to see my grand ma and grand pa Arnold up on 7th st. then my other grandma on 4th st. But they are all gone now, I still have aunts there one day I hope to get back there. But the schools are good they love there kids, sports, its a very loving town.

Emporium, eh? Very small town in one of the smallest counties in the state (5k people)... extremely remote area. I grew up 19 miles west in St. Marys... which is significantly larger. Employment options in Emporium are extremely limited... I imagine you would probably commute to St. Marys...
It's a pleasant, attractive town... remarkable for its remoteness... lots of outdoors stuff to do...

If noplace has an address Emporium is next to it LOL! My brother has lived in Emporium 22 years and I have just moved into a house in Caladonia which is 32 miles over the mountain from him. Its a beautiful area with mountains and streams. nestled in the "WILDS" of pennsylvania its 75 miles NW from Lock Haven on Rt 120 (Bucktail Trail) The town has seen a diminishing main street and there are very few places to shop except the local grocery store and a Dollar General . Rite Aid is in the process of building a new store on the east side of town, and of course there's a Sheetz mini-mate smack dab in the middle of town. Housing costs are acceptable as are rental cost ( I would advise the latter first) employment is hard found consisting mostly of PA Pressed metal manufacturing plants and support plants. St Mary's the nearest big town is a little more prosperous and a better bet. A commute to or from Emporium to St.Mary's is 19 miles and takes you up an 8 mile grade which is trecherous at times in the winter.

Emporium is very boring and i would recommend st.marys becuase it has everything that emporium has and a whole lot more. St.Marys just has tons more to do and a way better school system beliave me i go there. walmart is ruining st.marys but a lot of new stores are being biult like a new sheetz and a new rite aid. and they shut down the only place to eat in emporium BURGER KING and st.marys has more resturants and fast food. ST>MARYS LOOK IT UP!

Hi...My family and I are looking to purchase a piece of vacant property located someplace in Emporium, PA!! We camp in the area every year during Memorial Weekend to go visit our dad's grave and other family members at the cemetary up on the hill. We always stay at State Park campgrounds but our family has grown so big that we have a hard time finding enough campsites to accommodate our 25 plus family members that like to get together during that weekend!! It's a special weekend for the family so we thought maybe we should invest in some property and possibly spend more time camping up in that area....it's such a beautiful area!! Any suggestions or links on how I can locate some available property would be very helpful!! We figure an acre or two would be sufficient to set up some tents and small campers!! Thanks!!
