we are currently looking in the exton west chester area. We need some help sorting the schools out. We are manily interested in any helpful information anyone can give us on either school system Mainly interested in the high school and middle school. We have been told to stay away from Dowington and it's schools. Can anyone shed some light as to why this is so?

Hi there. We are also relocating to Chester County and looking at Downingtown, Exton and Chester Springs. I've done a lot of research and all indications are that Downingtown schools are excellent, but Downigtown covers a very broad area. Focus on the Uwchland and Upper Uwchland areas of the district. Chester Springs sits within the Upper Uwchland area and has a stellar reputation for great schools.

I posted my experience with Chadds Ford on another post but will post a little again here. We moved into a rental in chadds Ford while looking at homes to move into from the midwest based on test scores. We chose CF because of their scores. Turned out to be the biggest mistake ever. I had conference after conference with principals. My son fell behind in reading in those 6 months, could it be from watching tv too much in class? Grrr. My daughter in 5th grade at the time never had homework yet they always had in class guizzes. I decided their test scores came from learning how to take tests. We ended up ruling out any homes in that area and bought in Westtown, West Chesters southern end. Havent regretted it one bit!
