I did not move. Now I do have a $1000 emergency fund. What do you think of building up a savings account and saving up enough money to do a move without going into more debt? That money would not be used to pay debt however; it would be a separate account. Or is everyone saying to pay off the debt entirely and then move? Thanks.

Dang, you're not getting "it," are you? We're telling you to not spend one excess DIME on anything aside from basic living expenses until you pay off your debt. Not one dime. Clear??

Clear, but quite tough for certain mindsets. Some of us have developed this habit of spending beyond our limits. We'll need to develop a budget, wherein we list our regular monthly expenses on one side and the ones that we may do without on the other. That's where we may actually start thinking of saving a single dime as you call it.

I'm not sure how to respond to this. It strikes me as whining, but I hope it's not. I have a hard time feeling sympathetic for adults who have to act responsibly, like adults. "Waaah. It's so hard." Puhleeze. It's a simple budget -- add, subtract, multiply, divide. It's not calculus. You know what you need to do; grow up and do it.

Hey, had a huge veterinary emergency this week. Fortunately, have the handy $1,000 emergency fund to pay for some of it. Luckily I did not move. However, need to re-build the emergency fund.

Have you given up your foolish notion of saving up to move?? Do you understand how the real world of money works? YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MOVE UNTIL YOUR DEBT IS PAID OFF. You do not have the wiggle room in your budge.
