oh btw, I drive a 6 year old BMW 5 series, it looks new after a car wash.

people look at me like I am really successful, but the truth is that i got the car for less than any new car in the dealerships including hyundai.

These days, anyone can least a $50k car for $600 per month, with $0 down. hell, I could afford it when i was in college if i wanted it.

I just tried to see how much it would cost me to lease a 2012 BMW 535i. MSRP is $65K.

Lease cost - 900$/mo.

A Bentley or Ferrari atleast $250K. You're looking at several multiples of the Beemer I was looking at.

My guess is a lease for those cars would be at least $3K.
Hence the reason I said "newer" instead of "brand new." One could easily lease a 2010/2011 Ferrari or Bentley (which look just like the 2012 models) for $2500/month.

Actually you can lease a Bentley for somewhere in the price range. For example, here's a pre-owned 2012 Bentley for $2599:

San Francisco, CA 2012 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Series 51 Used Sedan San Jose, CA Beverly Hills, CA Bentley, Lamborghini, Lotus San Francisco

$2899 is quite a bit higher than the $2000 mark the guy mentioned earlier. I said that you're not going to be able to pull it off unless you get to the $3000 mark.

Those figures at $2700-2899, you're likely looking at putting quite a bit down. The taxes alone are going to be huge.

And yes, you can lease a $50K car for $600/mo. I've seen those. But those are usually bottom of the barrel in terms of options. If you take the same model car, add a HUD, M sport details and seats, cold weather package, etc... the price per month jumps up dramatically. That's how I ended up with the $900/mo instead of the $650/mo that was quoted on the website. Of course the price jumped from $55K to $65K also.

They're not going to approve you for a lease if you don't have the income to support it. In college, you probably didn't make the money to lease a $50K car even if you did have $600 disposable a month.

I've never had a credit card...I have no history of credit. I buy everything cash. Once I wanted to buy a car, was around 16K, I make around 100K a year and my partner makes around the same ea. year. The car dealer denied me LOL. Because I have no credit. Anyway, I knew they would.

Anyway, I know people who make 10 dollars an hour and drive 20 K cars. I don't get it.

I just googled and found that for a $200K Bentley, if you're looking to purchase...

$40K down.
$3200/mo for 60 mo at 3.99%.

That's insane.

Well, you are driving a Gremlin after all. That will make you more noticeable alone, but probably not in the way you wanted!

And I just found a Ferrari to compare. 2012 Ferrari California.

Lease for 36mo.

$32000 down payment
$2150/mo lease
$135,000 residual

Lease for 36mo w/o downpayment
$3200/mo lease
$135,000 residual

Those numbers are crazy.

My eyes already popped when I was looking at the BMW 5 series.
