I work for H&R Block, so I get mine done free. They'll file for me as soon as the IRS is open for e-business

Coldwine,

Pretty slick, but don't you have to wait for bank interest statements or anything like that?

There were a number of things I had to wait for, but I'm very well prepared. I put mine together already.

I'm in no hurry. I owe them money and if I file early, it'd be like giving them an interest free loan.

I like to get the math done around Feb. 1, then sit on the return until April 15.

You should actually file at least a week before the 15th. Very early and very late returns have a much higher incidence of audit.

My accountant recently gave me some erroneous information (I think) about filing estate taxes, so now I have lost faith in her and right at the start of tax season I have to go out and look for someone new. Ugh!

What a pain! Just goes to show, having a title and a degree does not make one an expert.

As you should. I'll offer recommendations to people but I seriously dislike it.
