$0. I've never gambled or bet on anything in my life. Not even a raffle ticket.

I simply can't put my money on the line when there is an expected value of less than 1. And neither is gambling entertainment for me - it's actually highly stressful for me to be putting my money on the line like that - not my idea of fun.

I'm not a big gambler......(been to Vegas 3X in 20 years). I have seen huge bets (17K lost in 20 minutes comes to mind). My biggest was probably $200-300 a spin at roulette. Last time it paid off, netted $3300 in an hour and left the table. I had double the cash in my room than I left home with!

Gambling is math/odds. For every win, you have losses. I have a simple system, start with $100 on the table, when you win get the dealer to break up the chips ($100 chips get banked, anything less gets gambled). Win $175 on a $5 bet (roulette) then save the $100 chip, run the $75 (not all at once, just keep it playing). My personal rule is the $100 chips never get reintroduced to the table, they get traded in at the cashier!

$1 in slot machine at the Reno airport.
Normally, I am a 5¢ slot guy. When the $2 roll is gone, I stop.

Whatever it takes to win roughly 5 grand on 0 in roulette. I was intoxicated and was just throwing out bets. I was coherent enough to not gamble more than 100 ish the rest of the trip. I try not to push my luck.

This is exactly why the casinos are happy to provide gamblers with all the free drinks they want. Keeps you at the table, lowers your inhibitions, makes you do things you probably wouldn't do if completely sober....

To me, gambling is fun and gives you an adrenaline rush that's hard to duplicate. Granted, like any vice, some people get themselves in trouble with it. But, if you're smart about it and are gambling with money that might otherwise be used on some other form of entertainment, essentially money you can afford and don't care if you lose (not your rent, kids college money or 401K), then it's a good outlet for excitement.

(I'm really itching to go play some BJ right now, but there's not casinos anywhere near where I live!)

Mine was $3k, I'm not much of a gambler either. It didn't work out. It was in the stock market though, on a penny stock. Las Vegas is not my favorite place, though watching friends lose their butts is sort of entertaining. I have a friend who lost $7k at blackjack in like an hour while we were there for a bachelor party. Definitely an addict, but everyone has a vice.

If I had sold at the right time, I'd have been up 10X. I held until the end. Lesson learned.

Stock market doesn't count. That's not 'gambling' as most people define it. I'm only talking table games, poker, sports, ponies, etc.

Biggest single poker hand win (playing 1/2 no-limit hold'em for those that know the game): $1,600. A friend of mine is a pro at Borgata and he's been involved in some $50k+ hands a number of times (he plays 25/50 no limit). He's so detached from money and has a big enough bankroll that he doesn't blink when he's in pots like that. Unreal...

My annual Fantasy Football entry fee is $400. This year I was a runner-up and it paid $1,225

Blackjack: $250 on 1 bet (I won like 6 or 7 consecutive hands and I kept bumping up until I lost)

Biggest comeback: I was down to my last $10 bet at a blackjack table and I ran it back up to $1,200. Never give up!!

I have a hard time gambling, especially any high amounts. Back in college, we used to go to an indian reservation and they had $2 and $5 tables. I brought in $30-40 and had fun. But the $10-20 tables? No thanks. I can find elsewhere to blow a few hundred bucks.
