Gambling at the casino had been my biggest waste of money.

When I bought my home in the suburbs, my wife wanted me to keep the small studio where I was previously living ( rental) downtown, because she wanted to use it from time to time ; the rent was not high, however it made a dent in my budget. Finally after 10 years I gave it up, I was upset to pay a rent for nothing (I practically never went back in that studio) and I stopped renting it. I believe thus I lost thousands of $ just to please my wife.

To me gambling is a form of entertainment. Get me out to different places, the excitement of whether I will win or lose, and seeing my comps my play earns.

To me it's no different than people who enjoy going to tropical islands or going to different fancy restaurants every date night.

$100/wk at a pack a day is $14/pack. I don't remember paying that much when I was there in 2015.

Sorry to quibble, but your math is bad. $100/wk x 52wk/yr x 40 years = $208,000. Lots of money for sure, but not even close to a million.

Staying too long in overpriced housing before deciding to move. I should have, in hindsight, looked for a better deal much sooner.

You didn't factor in the compounding interest

Ehh the best money I spent was paying for the legal separation. I could care less that we were still married on paper. Financially and otherwise are lives were split long before the divorce was final.
