Hmm

College. Don't use the degree and it cost a lot. Roughly $20,000/yr in opportunity cost since I worked part-time rather than full-time. After scholarship/grant cost was around $10,000/yr, so total cost was around $120,000 for something I don't use. Definitely a good experience but hard to justify the $120,000 price tag plus non financial costs.

This one pair of $250 Danner hunting boots I have. After a month of daily use they just won't break in, still fit strangely, very uncomfortable, won't take a shine, soles are already halfway worn out (I've been wearing boots most of my life so I want to think I know what they're supposed to be like.). I hope I got a defective pair or knockoffs, or maybe I'm just too used to Wolverines, Redwings and Alpinestars but I don't know. I finally gave up and they're now in the box to go to the humane society and I've just been wearing Vans to work. Better than nothing.

This is the second pair of Danners I've had in the past 20 years (last ones I outgrew) and they'll probably be the last.

The irony of you donating Hunting Boots to the Humane Society does not escape me.

My biggest waste of money has been purchasing anything with a credit card that I haven't paid immediately. Those interest charges really add up. My new motto is "if I can't pay it off within a month I don't buy it or I save up for it".

agreed. I love CCs though. We have a cash back one that adds 10% if you put it into your checking or savings account. This year alone we will clear $500 in cash rewards and we aren't even big spenders.

Lottery tickets. I've spent $1-2 a week on lottery tickets since the early 1980's and have never won more than $5 at a time and that's once or twice a year at that. I'm afraid to quit, though, as I play the same numbers each time. Just as soon as I quit playing, that number will come up BIG.

Lending money to a boyfriend that I never saw again.....the money, that is. I guess it was well spent, after all, because it spurred me to give him the boot.

I rented a car when I visited New Orleans. Drove it from the airport to the hotel, never used it until I drove back to the airport. Some places a car gets in the way.

Which was unintentional, Well, I refuse to deal with Badwill and Value Village is closed so can't give stuff to the ARC so the humane society is the most reasonable of the few secular options around here. At least when I go there I don't see the "worst of the worst" on their shelves like I do at Badwill.

Actually, animal rights activists have long pointed out the [seeming] irony that hunters are responsible for the vast majority of animal conservation in the U.S.

Negative equity on a car. I ran up the CCs into the low figures at one point but at least I got something out of that. Negative car equity is just a black hole.
