I have a 4yr old 7ft Red Tail Boa. Can you please tell me why she is being very aggressive and attacks every thing and very hard to handle, she even bit once, and she gets even worst right after she eats she gets very wild and starts to launch her self at the glass walls of her cage trying to get out.

I haven't owned snakes but my husband has, he had a boa constrictor and reticulated python (not sure of spellings).

He kitted out the basement room for them (the cellar). It was like a jungle very warm, they could move freely round this room and he fed live feed. He would open the door so they could chose to come up and sit with him. One of them used to coil between his feet and rest its head on his knee. He handled them daily.

A snake isn't an animal I would like for a pet much to his disappointment. When he comes in I will ask him for his thoughts on this.

There are two possible reasons:
1) Could be a feeding response behavior. How much (or what size food items) and how often are you feeding the snake? And are you taking the time to open the cage for things besides feeding (such as cleaning and handling)?
or
2) It Could be self defense behavior (indicated by S-coiling, gaping, and hissing), in which case see earlier replies to this thread.

How long have you had her, and what is your enclosure like? How do you measure and control the temps? Finally, what and how often are you feeding her? It would be useful to know these details, before I can even guess at why she's aggressive. But some snakes just aren't friendly, although you can usually tame them a bit with regular handling... I'd recommend a 10-15 minute daily session, just letting her slither through your hands & arms. Eventually she should calm down for you!
