BTW, in the movie Philadelphia, its mentioned that Tom Hanks's character contracted aids at an adult theater and they described the location. Was that the same adult theater that collapsed or just completely made up?

Do you remember what the exact quote was? I was always under the impression the big adult theater had been at 13th and Market, which was tore down and remains a parking lot. You can see it in the movies Blow Out and Trading Places

RIP to the Meridian in the background too

Yea. It's a solid design.
Now I hope the developer for the nearby Rite Aid plot on Walnut takes notes on how to design a nice residential tower. If anyone remembers, the Texas based developer presented a crap preliminary design a few months ago.

And The Forum was the porn theater at the site of the under construction HQ for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius on Market Street. Not sure if that was the one in the movie.

Did some digging, and its the Adrienne Theater at 20th and Sansom. Got to be honest, I've never heard of the place but they are showing "SAW: The Musical", so that's something...

Movie Tourist: Philadelphia (1993)

Side note, I love informing people that the police station in Trading Places is actually the community college.

After further review, Tom Hanks' parents in the movie were somewhere on The Main Line, but actually I see the actual house is Germantown/Mt. Airy (not sure the exact dividing line)

There used to be the Adonis Theater around that area that was a seedy porn theater. I went in there once when I was 18 and brand new to the city to see what it was about. It was gross, lol. More sure if it is still there or not, as this was in 2010.

IIRC, the Adonis became the Adrienne.

Tweb66: West of Germantown Avenue, Johnson Street is the dividing line between Mt. Airy and Germantown; east of Cliveden, which sits on the Mt. Airy side of Johnson east of Germantown Avenue, the border moves one block south to Washington Lane.

You would be surprised how many philly people I have watched that with and them being like "don't recongize it", it's the front steps of the community college!

I was hoping this would have more height given the location. Its a very sharp looking building but I think would feel more at home in The Naval Yard

^ I suspected it would end up being short. But sleek looking at least and revolutionary in growing Philadelphia's international presence in Life Sciences.

I would like to see some retail though. That is a massive building, it can't fit a coffee shop or restaurant? Heck, even a Starbucks, because that is a bit a of a barren stretch.

Agree completely. I love the growth in West Philly, especially because of its major implications for Philadelphia's economy, but I fear it's becoming a little too "Downtown DC"-esque in its form. Street activation cannot be lost.
