How long does a bridge opening take? Anyone know? Is it worth it to sit through an opening to get across or is it better to find another route if you can avoid the opening? Travel it pretty often and my husband and I have this argument often...I say sit through...he says find another way - anyone have a thought?

on this?

From open to close you are looking at a 15-25min wait. It is an on demand drawbridge so if you subscribe to Nixle you may not get the notification in time. If I know it's up I go across Betsy Ross instead.

I and the wife travel over it 4 times a day.. The opening can vary from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. At also depends if you catch it at the end of the boat pass and it may only be a few minutes. We get the phone texts and this will let us know when it is going to open and if I need to be somewhere in a fast time I just take the Betsy Ross. no big deal
