Price is the same. The 17 bus is closer, but it's a slower ride. It's a matter of preference - the bus probably makes more sense. Get off at 12th and Market.

My friends stayed there and they had no problems. Plus it was the cheapest closet to the convention center for three people. It was this or in cherry hill nj.

The 17 bus travels to Center City along 20th Street. I'm not sure if it stops at 20th and Penrose, but you can walk to 20th and Packer - about a two minute walk. Ask for directions in your hotel. It should take a half hour, but with traffic it could take longer. The bus will let you off at 11th and Market on the south side of the street. Just cross Market Street and walk the two blocks to the convention center. When you return, stay on the north side of Market (the same side as the Convention Center). The bus goes south down 19th Street. I'm not sure if all of the buses go as far as Packer Street, so ask the driver.
