The police have been useless babies for years now. They routinely don't show up when called and just in general don't give a **** when you report a crime, especially something involving traffic. Well said.

Why is that "police accountability" is such a politically charged phrase? Why shouldn't all public servants be accountable to the job they were sworn to do?

Yet again, the out-of-touch suburbanites glued to Fox 29 really have nothing of value to say on this topic other than the predictable right-wing rants.

Hey suburbanites, if you want more accountability and better outcomes on crime: move to Philadelphia and actually make a difference in the community!

For the record, complaining about city crime from the cushy safety of your well-off suburb is no different from the "suburban progressives" you're so quick to deride for their supposed support of "defunding the police."

If the police were actually smart, they would use the publics criticism as motivation to perform better, not wallow in self pity like children and further prove our point on how inept they are...

And you support the police for having a silent protest, but against Americans protesting the people sworn in to protect us is Grade A contradiction.

Yep, that’s all they are; children.

I’ve been called every insult under the sun when I worked at Target. I didn’t complain and whine like a child. I kept it profession and wish them a great day.

The problem in this county is how conservatives view policemen as God which is why they’re above any judgement, fault or criticism. Very dangerous way of thinking and it needs to be addressed.

Sure, they should run right out and expose themselves to danger/jail for people who think of them as babies. If you were to follow the news everyday you would see that they police a large group of people who are sub human (afterall who would mace babies in a daycare, or shoot 13 year olds, kill grandfathers at ATM's) but people such as you want to be critical of their every move and make sure that they treat the animals of our society with the utmost respect. In most of the cases that brought on riots over the past few years the people the police arrested/killed etc- were people you wouldnt dare welcome into your homes, yet you would scream at the top of your lungs should the police so much as step an inch out of line.

Its truly no wonder Philly is where its at with this mindset, Just keep electing the likes of Krasner.

What was George Floyd's actual cause of death?

There are people still advocating to defund the police; maybe no longer certain politicians due the November 2020 election going a certain way.

Now we're all dealing with what was sown in 2020 and the cops are being blamed...lol...you can't make this stuff up.

Ferguson Effect, meet the Floyd Effect; except George's death is having a much wider fallout than Ferguson. Said it before, the Floyd effect will take out at least 10,000+ black lives, a much smaller spike than little 'ole Feguson.

Ferguson being the reason for BLM creation...lol...those commie sisters have pocketed $90 million; who didn't know BLM 2020 and the general collateral payouts wasn't going to be the biggest white guilt shakedown since the '60s?

Everyone has forgotten that Biden called Floyd's death the greatest civil rights death since MLK..the manipulation of Floyd goes on and on but the toll is being taken in the black community. Black community issues manipulated by whites to get rid of Trump; now the black community is taking the hit.

Whatever happened to the Einstein idea of having social workers and psychiatrists going out on police calls? lol...even Biden-Harris advocated that as did local pols.

Reap what you sow...lol

Let's hope the Sixers can pull off an NBA Championship on a nice warm to hot June night...lol.

The last post compels me to ask if there is a consensus on what "defunding the police" means, particularly locally.

To some, it means literally reducing if not totally shutting down the police force.

To others, it means redirecting a portion of funds going to police-related expenses towards hiring social workers to handle presumed non-violent situations.

I think relatively few people in the area are calling for the former, the least of which being suburban progressives. The latter is something I can respect support for in Philly no matter where one lives in the region but particularly in the city proper.

If republicans are the saviors of law and order, why was Chester constantly ranked in top 3 highest homicide rate under 40 years of constant republican leadership. No republican has ever given a straight answer on this...

Police are used by conservatives as the keepers of the status quo. Conservatives believe the job of the police is to keep "them" away from "us." If one of "them" mouths off to the police and gets killed, if one of "them" dies in a hail of police bullets during a no-knock raid, or gets shot in the back while reaching for a cell phone... Those are all excusable incidents and part of the plan.

Conservatives don't view police as Gods. They view them as servants that are paid and equipped to do a certain job.
