I must ask (and I am white): who are the attackers? I.e. white, Asian, black, a mix? Is this a bunch of white punks upset that their neighborhood is changing? Is it other Asian groups upset that they their turf is being invaded? Either way it's wrong and scary, but I'd love to know why these attacks are occurring.

Ummm, their neighborhood has been changing for years. Current demographic data says the school is 70% African-American, 6% white, 18% Asian, 5% Latino, and 1% other.

I'm more concerned about the anger some teens have these days then I am about ethnic backgrounds. I know I'm old but when I was a teenager, if someone had an issue with another person we'd have a "fair one" one on one and then, five minutes later, it's over. Most of the time, outside of maybe a bloody nose, there was no real physical damage to anyone. Now, these young people want to fight to the death, and the more the merrier.

The writer skipped over that little detail. The attackers were obviously black.

The media conveniently leaves out the attackers are blacks, and they have a history of attacking non blacks. If this was say whites attacking blacks this would be on front page of the daily news and inquirer and the big story on every news channel. You would also have all the usual characters like Sharpton down here protesting. The cops should be handling this as a HATE crime. I would be open to getting something set up and protesting at the school. I'm so sick of the double standards in this city.

yeh...bringing this back up, why not...
..."the attackers are blacks, and they have a history of attacking non blacks." don't leave out that blacks have a history of attacking blacks, as well.
plus, I just mighta' heard that the incident was provoked by an asian or asian students attacking a black handicapped student at the school.
