So thank you everybody for your posts-
I'm down to choosing between three sites

In Port Richmond:

Ann and Cedar
Westmoreland and Belgrade

or in Bridesburg:
Pratt and salmon

Can anyone with experience tell me a bit more about these corners?

I've also got a bit of money saved up and I'd like to do some home rehab- you all have been talking about the other neighborhood-whatever it is on the other side of the highway, and I took a ride around, and it's not bad at all, it just needs some rehab. There is a place right off of Margaret and Tacony- what do you all think?

Thanks

Ann and Cedar is a nice Irish/Italian enclave. You may however have your hubcaps stolen or your soft top cut - that's about all the crime you'd experience there...I'd personally go for Bridesburg over Port Richmond...

Hi think that Czerw Praw chose some really nice streets in Port Richmond. Especially Ann and Cedar- it's the type of place you see people hanging out on summer evening in lawn chairs, listening to the Phillies on the radio, maybe calling in for an order from Tacconelli's. Now and again you will spot a POlish person, too. It's Port Richmond at its' finest.

Hello,

I'm there. I would like to let you know that Port Richmond is a great place. Bridesburg is a good place too, but it was a lot of disruptive and careless youth. I am Polish too. I speak Polish at home, and visit Poland oftenly. My family and I live in Port Richmond and my kids attend a Polish Language School in Bridesburg. Everytime they go outside for a recess break, there is always a gang of "American" kids on their skateboards always threatning all of the polish kids. The kids from Bridesburg are very violent and diruptive, and tend to fight. One of my sons friends (also Polish) got into a serious fist fight with one of those Bridesburg kids. I'm not trying to make Bridesburg sound bad, I mean its Philly, every where you go, there will be bad things, but the youth in Bridesburg is not that Polish-friendly. But trust me, if you wan't to have a nice family, settle down in Port Richmond. There are a lot of great schools to choose from and a lot of friendly people.

Thanks,

Mirek
