driving to las vegas from phoenix. Anyone know how I can avoid Grand Ave. (Rt. 60) because of all the construction. Heard it is down to one lane.

yeah it's kind of a bear unless you can hit it early AM or late at night.

You could always head north on the I17 from phoenix until you hit the carefree highway exit. Take that west toward lake pleasant, and it'll dump you back out on grand ave between surprise and wickenburg. could be a trade off though if you're going at the same time a lot of people are headed to or coming back from the lake/marina.

I agree with this route...took it about three weeks ago and made a difference in the travel time from phoenix to Wickenburg. This would be Hwy 74 west.

can also take Loop 101 north to Union Hills, go west to 83rd Ave/Lake Pleasent Parkway about two blocks, then north to Hwy 74 west. Traffic is not bad early part of the morning and it is a truck route.

Stay off Loop 303 from Grand Ave south. It's under construction too.
