I'll be flying into Phoenix in the late morning, then driving out to Scottsdale. Google maps estimates 40 minutes regularly, but about an hour with traffic. Is 11 AM more likely to fall into the regular traffic category or the heavy traffic category?

Just wondering, because out here, the late morning / early afternoon is often worse than rush hour, and I wasn't sure if it was the same in Phoenix.

Traffic would be moderate at that time of day and definitely lighter than during rush hour.

It should be pretty light around 11 AM. In my experience I've only really noticed bad traffic to and from Phoenix -- Scottsdale around 7 AM and 5 PM, not in the middle of the day.

Around noon there is a bit of traffic, seems to be everyone on lunch, or people getting ready for 2nd shift which is usually 1-2pm.

It'll take you about 35 minutes. Be careful on the 101 North, before Scottsdale exit there are cameras.

I drive on the 101 everyday, I see at least 3 photo radar vans positioned on the East side of the 101, next to Shea every single day. There and back.
