The foreclosure house I just purchased has a bunch of window screens missing - no sun screens, just bug screens. Some of the screens that are there have bent frames.

Anyone have a recommendation for someone to do these? Hard to search the BB for it because it's mostly handymen and general contractors who do these.

Looking forward to leaving my windows open a lot now that I'm out of humid Dallas.

Thanks in advance.

I bought kits at the home depot to make them myself - about $10 each..

I know the Ace Hardware in North Scottsdale on Scottsdale Rd. makes them to order for you (maybe there's one near you that makes them?)

They have the tools to make them pro-style.. (stretched properly) - otherwise it's kind of a learned skill to make your own without bulges in the fabric or warped frames...

The good news is that even if your screens aren't perfect, we don't have many of the flying critters that most of the country has to deal with..

A few flies & a few bees, but not the swarms of insecty-goodness you're used to in Dallas...

Welcome to Phoenix!

Yeah, check out Ace Hardware. The one in Ahwatukee (48th & Warner) also does them.

I would do them yourself, I just took on the task myself recently and its fairly easy. You can get rolls of the solar screens for $40 or so and then you just buy the framing and cut them yourself and use corner clips to connect the frames together. After that its just rolling in the new screen.

If you want solar screens, not just bug screens, and don't want to try it yourself, I'll recommend the guy we use. Figure about 50 bucks a window...Just PM me for his info.

If you are doing bugscreen, I'd try the kit first. Some screen, a roller, and a way to miter corners (or buy the L shaped corner connectors) and you're in like flynn. My DIY projects like that never turn out well though...

Thanks, all. We'll take a look at the kits and otherwise will use Ace.
