I am going to interview with the City of Phoenix for one of their upper level positions. Does anyone have any advice or information about working for they city?

i don't work for the city but i work for another state institution. i assume their hiring practices would be similar. Where i work you are interviewed by a committee, so a good idea would be to shake everyone's hand. dress well, one step higher than the position asks for. make sure you're groomed and bring extra resumes in case they ask.

Rarely. I think a dress shirt, slacks, and a tie would be enough to show you are serious about the position.

Dress in what is comfortable and appropriate for the job. Think of yourself as the one doing the hiring and how you'd want someone to present themselves to you.

I've gone to interviews in a suit here in Phoenix, the AC helps, but it's still tough in the summer time. If you are up for the task, I'd say go for it!
