For those of you that have been to the Tee Pee Mexican food restaurant and the Original Garcia's restaurant- which do you like better? Are they both equally good?

Thanks and Happy Easter

Bush or Clinton or one of them ate at Tee Pee years ago and his booth is now almost a shrine!....Tee Pee was discovered by the PV BMW/Lexus set decades ago and may be a bit complacent now....it's been a while since I was there....

I *think* the original Garcia's on 35th Ave is still owned by a descendant of Julio and Olivia Garcia....of course, the nationwide chain of Garcia's is a result of them selling out years ago.....would like to try the original one day, but I'm never over there.....

I like Tee Pee. It's pretty standard gringo Mexican food but it's executed well. GW Bush was a big fan of Tee Pee and would dine there every time he flew into Phoenix. It has kind of a cool cantina like feel. I was eating there before Bush because it was a very trendy yuppie Yelp-like place before Yelp and the foodie trend started.

Robert A, azdr0710 and azriverfan- Thank you for your replies.

I think I will go to The Original Garcia's and then maybe try Tee Pee's another time.

IMO, Tee Pee is pretty nasty. Almost any other place would be better.

Going to the Tee Pee on Indian School is one of my first memories as a child growing up in the Phoenix area. I still like Tee Pee to this day. Garcia's is just okay in my opinion. Rosita's is a new favorite and they have been around forever too.

The Tee Pee down by the ballpark was pretty tasty last time I was there, but I've been eating at TOG for years (including the old, smaller location further south). I like it better.

They are both equally bad unless you like Mexican food that is inauthentic - orange cheese covered stuff. You can buy frozen dinner Mexican food and do just as well. But tee pee is, at least, a pleasant looking tourist trap.

LOL

I disagree. C'mon! I've eaten the tv dinners. While they're edible, usually, there's no comparison as to taste and quality.

As for authenticity, my sister in law is from Mexico. She's fixed us authentic mexican food, steak, potatoes, veggies and salad. In the US when we go to a mexican restaurant we want mexican-american food. It is what it is.
