It's 81º outside and it got to 82º inside the house, had to turn it on...was getting a little toasty.

Weird thing is, at night, we have to turn the heat on because it's in the 40s.

Anyone else?

Nope. HX_Guy, are you sure you're not getting menopausal hot flashes?

Sorry, that makes no sense. My house, with nothing on, is in the 60's. What's up with yours?

No idea...poor insulation? Bad exposure? One story house built in 1999 and has double pane windows, plus sunscreens all around plus wood shutters on the windows.

I had two doors open today, one fully and one about half-way. All windows were closed and the doors opened offered no cross-ventilation. The ceiling fans were off and all blinds, except for the ones covering southern exposure windows, were fully open. The warmest my single-story house got today was 73.4 degrees.

We've run the heat a few times, but no a/c yet- and we would run the a/c if the house hit 78, it hasn't yet.

Do you have neighbors blocking any of the sun load? If you do, I'd take a peek in the attic & see if they forgot to insulate the place.

With r50 in our attic, at least the past couple years, we haven't used the a/c until May.

All the houses around us are 1 story so no one is providing any shade and we have a few trees in the backyard but they aren't very big yet and are pretty far from the house as well.

The attic has very very little insulation, I've been up there several times and it's like 6" of fluff up there.

We've not run the AC yet but I feel you. When temps outside are the in mid-70s and sunny our home usually gets into low 80s by late afternoon and it feels a bit warm, especially upstairs.

Sometimes tempted to turn AC on but if wait until sun starts to get low temp drops very quickly.

I am not running anything. My house gets to 78. It is well insulated, I open the doors and turn on the fans. REFUSE to turn it on now.
At night it is cold, same I wont put on the heat, I use to blankets, then when I get hot kick one off,lol

I am loving this weather, though our lack of winter this year has me concerned on a more grande level of things.
