I'm looking to relocate to central Phoenix for a job. The job is by the airport. I want to live somewhere safe. Where would you advise?

Tempe, Ahwatukee or north Chandler.

Mesa is 15-20 minutes from the Airport, and same goes for Glendale and Laveen.

Oh goodness... serious stereotypes exist about Central Phoenix--heck, I live here and have never felt safer. I seriously love it here.

What is your price range? Are you looking for an apartment or home? Are you looking to drive into work or ride light rail?

Central Phoenix is like anyplace else: some parts are decent and some parts aren't. Living near the Light Rail may be a good idea since it goes near Sky Harbor and there's a shuttle bus between the 2.

Look at some of the newer condominiums in the midtown area, especially around Park Central.

As another poster wrote, being on or near the light rail is beneficial and you can take the train to and from your workplace at Sky Harbor.

But let's be perfectly clear about this : you take the train to the airport stop THEN you get on a bus to go to the interior of the airport. (I openly admit that this bit of stupid planning is a sore point with me.)

It's that way for now.

When the skytrain is completed it should eliminate the need to transfer to a bus, but the riders will still have to transfer from one train to another.

I agree, it was poor planning to have the light rail line bypass Sky Harbor.

It was not stupid planning. The cost of running the train through the airport and stopping at terminals was way too high, the thing would never have been built if faced with that requirement.

Funny that virtually every other large city seems to get that including the airport in a subway or lightrail system IS a requirement.
