Why I ask is several times I've called the cops on loud parties and they claim there's NOTHING they can do. I'm in walking distance of Old Town. I know Tempe has a strict one according to some friends of mine but not here.

the city council is now messing with trying to come up with a noise ordinance, primarily because of the so-called "entertainment district", that area of hip bars just SE of Scottsdale and Camelback Roads, which is near private residences....

of course, it's hard to balance the wishes of residents with popular tax-producing businesses....

here's what a quick googling produced on how complicated it is.....

Businesses, residents want tougher Scottsdale noise rules

Scottsdale council takes no action on toughening noise law

don't know if anything has happened since these articles from last summer

Thanks. You pretty much answered my question: Scottsdale is confused and must be afraid of making its southside cash cow; the bar crowd, mad.
