what the heck is going on here? Two dogs abandoned in a dog park, I found 2 dogs and another person I work with found 2 dogs, none were microchipped, no colors. The two dogs I found, I paid over $30 for flyers to find the owners, vaccines to board them until a shelter would take them. They were out in the heat and about to die from it. I could NOT leave them out in that. One was a purebred spaniel, beautiful, the other was we think his 3 month old son. I could not and would not take them to the county for fear of them being put down. If my dogs went missing I would die. I just don't understand this type of behavior. If you can't afford to fix your pets, microchip them, don't have them, but don't just turn your back on them. The next time they might not be so lucky and find someone like me to help them.

Shadow: THAT IS AWFUL. Which dog park was it? How did you realize they had been abandoned? I don't even take my dogs to the park lately because of the heat. How could someone just dump them without water, without anyone looking after them. Probably someone losing their house and /or unemployed and hoping that someone, like you, would come along and find them. Thank God for you.

The best dog ever found *me* in a parking lot frequented by coyotes at 2 am about a year ago.
He was nearly dead from dehydration (kidney failure), covered in ticks and his hair was badly matted.
I had numerous offers to adopt him when I posted him on petfinder.
The owner could have easily found a home for him if they had tried at all.

We found 4 newborn kittens in a dumpster, wrapped in a t-shirt. This world is cruel. The Humane Society said they would euthanize them because they are so little and just don't have the resources to bottle feed them (I'm sure the Humane Society is great... I'm just stating what they told me). They are in my living room sleeping right now... just got fed.

I don't understand the world either.

Or someone who just got a new boyfriend who doesn't like dogs, or has a dog that doesn't like other dogs, and the boyfriend wants to move in. Sorry, but I know a woman who did this - leaving her dog tied with a rope at the door of the ASPCA in South Mountain (who had already told her they were full and they could not take anymore dogs, in which case the animal ends up at Maricopa County and euthanized. The "no-kill shelter" myth.)

Needless to say, I have no association with that woman anymore. (No sexism here. I've no doubt that some guys would do the same thing.)

Oh, my sister met someone who was getting rid of her dog because it clashed with the new decor in her house. Some people...

Thanks for doing right!

When we lived in Vistancia, the HOA manager found two female chocolate labs, both pregnant and both abandoned. The manager and the board president took them home so they could comfortably have their litters...which surprisingly were all purebred labs. I still shake my head at what kind of person could just leave their beautiful dogs to die like that. Our rescue dog was found in a box on a snow covered road way up north on one of the reservations with his littermates all near frozen and full of worms and parvo. The vet who found them nursed them all back and we have a wonderful family member now. The vet has angel wings me thinks.

Thank God there are caring individuals like you guys on here.

My pet peeve is when I hear someone claim they were forced to get rid of their dog after about a year or so because he became too large for their home and/or family.

What were these idiots thinking? All animals, including humans, start out cute and cuddly and small. Anyone, even with the IQ of a banana, should be able to determine the approximate adult size of any animal prior to adopting or buying.

Once again . . . God Bless you guys for saving these helpless animals.

Maybe this world would be a better place if we had more humans fixed instead of dogs.

Absolutely. Shelters are full of pets that were surrendered directly to the shelter, by people who struggled to keep them until they couldn't, possibly even attempted to re-home them, and could not, for whatever reason.

A lot of people are too stupid, unethical, irresponsible, or lazy. More likely, all of the above.
