Ooohhhh - good idea. I wonder where I can go about getting a pair of red-tail hawks??

I LOATHE pigeons and we have a decent size flock that reside in our neighborhood - one of them met an untimely death by pellet gun, but I'm not sure the neighbors approve of this method.... so always looking for options.

Sorry about the thread hi-jack.... and I concur on the watching for signs of infection. Nothing wrong with applying an OTC antibiotic cream on the wound as a prophylactic...

On the subject of pigeons yes their mess can be lethal. I know one story of someone inhaling dried droppings while working on a roof, and contracting brain cancer as a result. Very nasty.

Back to the topic, please - palm trees, not pigeons.

According to this, I guess some palms may be poisonous, but I've never heard of any of these: Poisonous Palm Plants | eHow.com

Lots of good advice, I think palm trees are relatively safe (unless you are trimming them 30 feet up in the air and get caught by dead palm fronds). On the other hand, many people are not aware that oleanders are very dangerous and need to handled carefully. I only mention that since you were gardening and might come across an oleander in your travels.

I also agree palm trees to be pretty safe (barring wound infection). But will second another poster's warning about agaves. Wow, those things can jab like a saber and cause rash & swelling in those with sensitivities.
