It can get very cold in my place. I still (as of last weekend) have one thin blanket. I normally add the thick blanket in December and no longer need it in March or April. I rent a two bedroom apartment and it has a fireplace. The fireplace does not really warm the other rooms so I use it for aesthetic reasons on the days when the morning temperature is in the low 30s and I sit nearby the fireplace with a cup of coffee while enjoying the sunrise. I had a cat in the past and she loved to stare at the flames in the fireplace!

I said December, but I guess I shouldn't have answered because I live in Tucson not Phoenix. Sorry.

I put "never" because I probably use it one or two days a year, if any. I can't remember turning it on at any time over the last 12 months. I would remember it, because I need to switch from cool to heat on the thermostat. I live in central Phoenix.

When I lived in north Scottsdale, I did use it a bit more because of the chill in the mornings.

FYI, it is now December, and we still aren't using the heat. Not sure if we will need it this month, since we are going to Puerto Rico for the holidays.

I've never turned the A/C off! It rarely has turned on but I still have the programmable settings on and I had guests over this weekend and heard it pop on since so many people were warming up the house. So yes, the inside of my house got above 80 in December!

My air kicks on a bit still. I probably won't really use my heat this year, seems like a warm one. My house is more insulated than my previous homes though so I may never need it again, nice since I don't like the cold as I've said. Sometimes Jan or Feb will have a cold spell for a couple of days I might end up trying out in the morning just to see if it works. lol

Today is like a wonderful summer day in another state. Maybe I'll go swimming.

I live up in the Verde Valley but haven't been using much heat either. It's been in the low to mid 70s daytimes and low to mid 40s at night so not THAT cold. I turn the heat all the way off at night and sleep under warm blankets...and cats! lol It's usually around 55 when I wake up. My place is small, well insulated and can be plenty warmed up in about 15-20 minutes. After my shower I turn it off again. Plenty of sun to keep the place warm while I'm at work. Can't believe I can still have all the doors and windows open during the day, if I want, but I have seen 75-80 degree Christmas before.

This is my first winter here. I live in Sun City West, so the Surprise area. I haven't turned the heat on in my house yet, other than the heater in the bathroom. I turn that on just to get the chill off in the early morning. I wouldn't even turn that on, its only because I have a part time job and walk to work at either 4:30am or 5:30am. So its the coldest part of the day, so I need some heat in the bathroom. Which seems to be the coldest area of the house. I imagine it will get somewhat colder here as we get into Dec and Jan. I don't really know yet how cold it will get here. Coming from Massachusetts. I probably wouldn't feel the need, to use alot of heat in this region of Arizona.

I can usually survive a winter on space heaters. My bathroom is the coldest room in the house as well. If it gets cold enough in the house when I need heat I'll just run a space heater in the room I'm in. No reason to heat the entire upstairs when it's not in use.

We're still using the upstairs AC and don't anticipate using the heater.
