For the same reason it includes Sierra Vista and Tucson together even though Sierra Vista is 70 miles from Tucson. It's trying to suggest that it's metropolitan area is considerably wide going so far as to include nearby cities.

BTW Mormons don't read the Bible.

That's what I thought and why I wondered about the SLC comparison.

I am an atheist, very extreme social liberal, very RKBA, very capitalist, in essence an atheist voluntaryist. I cannot stand either Republican politics or Democrat politics. Or politics itself. There are a lot of voluntaryists in Arizona who wish government and religion would just go away.

Pun intended.

Phoenix and Prescott the same metro area? Tucson and Sierra Vista? Never heard that before.

I'm agnostic. It's obvious something had a hand in creating all of this but it's illogical to assume Jesus Christ was part it. The entire package is just too darn complex (and AMAZING) to think a higher power was not involved. But this doesn't mean that the higher power wants to be worshiped or followed.

The bible (to me) seems so far fetched. Back in MN in Michelle Bachmann's district, there was a church about every mile with a low population density. In Surprise, AZ churches are few and far between. Without question in my mind, the western burbs of AZ are not nearly as "religious" as the northern suburbs of MN. Christianity was a common topic in MN. I don't hear much of it here in AZ.

So our kids could make up their own minds about Christianity, we (actually my wife's influence) raised them as Christian's. My DD and DS were in fact believers. Fast forward several years. My son as a young adult studied multiple religions in-depth. He actively attended multiple services to find his own truth. He spent hours talking with people of different faith and still enjoys the topic. He is now agnostic because "faith" isn't logical. He did study the bible for years and was a youth leader during his high school years.

When he visits us in Surprise, I hope some Mormon's ride their bike around the neighborhoods trying to convert people. I saw a pair out with white helmets just yesterday. It will be fun to listen to the conversation if my son attends. If they have logical minds, there is a good chance two agnostics would be biking away. I propose nearly all Christians have not done their due diligence. If that same Christian was born in India, they would probably believe in and study Hinduism. Most Hindu's also have not done their due diligence and study other religions as well. In summary, we believe what we are told.

I suspect there is a thread about this survey in the Religion forum already, or it's the place to start one. Please keep this thread confined to discussion about this survey in the Phoenix area, and take the discussion of religion or the lack thereof generally to the general forum. Thank you.
