Hi,
My family and I are coming to AZ for vacation. We would like to be close to Scottsdale area. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive hotel?
Thanks

What time of year are you coming? It's off season now, but rates probably start creeping up in October.

Define "inexpensive". Even for one that is a little high for you, you can go on Priceline and try to get it cheaper.

You may also want to check out Vacation Rentals By Owner ( www.VRBO.com ) if the thought of a furnished home/condo appeals to you.

Have you checked Homestead Suites, mrsmc?

Homestead Studio Suites Hotels - hotels in Scottsdale, Arizona

Convenient location, clean and even a small kitchen for snacks and beer, etc.

Good Luck

If it's in the summer, I always recommend finding a resort. Their prices are pretty good in the summer (the "off season"), and your stay will be more enjoyable. Go to Hotels.com, Travelocity.com, etc, and search four and five star hotels in Scottsdale. You might be surprised at some of the prices....

For example, on Travelocity, for the week of September 5th-11th, in Scottsdale, a four star resort is as low as $56 per night, and there are 8 four and five star resort options below $100 per night.

You may also want to try HomeAway Vacation Rentals: Beach Houses, Condos, Cabins, Villas & Vacation Rental Homes.... stay in a home, instead of a hotel. Have fun!

In May of 2010 I stayed at Best Western Inns and Suites on Northern Ave. Sometimes Best Western's can be iffy, but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Very homey, great customer service, nightly happy hour with beer, wine, and snacks. If you are lucky enough to be there the first Wednesday of the month, the managers host a "cookout" with hamburgers, etc.
I recently moved to the area, so I no longer need to stay in a hotel, but I would recommend them to anyone looking for a inexpensive place with great customer service!
