Has anyone recently moved from the midwest? We are planning our move sometime in the spring and have heard that it will cost us at least $10,000 for a mover from Illinois to the Gilbert area? I have also heard it can be as high as $15,000 if we choose to move everything (three bedroom home)
and have the mover pack us? Thank you for any input.

we only paid less than $3000 moving from michigan and they broke down big things and packed more.

it all depends on what you are moving an how much research you put into it.

We live in Oklahoma and I am getting estimates now to move to Phoenix.
We have 16000# of furniture and most of my quotes are around $8000 if they pack everything and about $6500 if we pack it.

We are exactly half way between Chicago and Phoenix, so you may very well be looking at around $15000.

pynkpanther,

If you used a national carrier, please pm me with the name. So far I have contacted one national carrier and two local ones.

The national carrier was about $1200 higher than the other two.

Ya toys are good.

About 4 months ago We moved from San Diego. It cost us about $3,000, but in the end we spent about $5,000. Not to bad seeing how I thought we were going to spend alot more. We did all the Packing and unpacking ourself.

I am just going off of memory, but we moved from the St Louis area to Queen Creek in 2005. We used a United Van Line affiliate. They did all of the packing and moving. I want to say it was all less than $10k. I actually think it was closer to $8k. That was for a 4Bdr Home. We ended up essentially filling one of the larger moving trucks. I don't remember the exact weight.

Get several quotes from well known companies. You can also consider moving yourself by renting a 20 or 24 foot moving van and dropping the van off here. You can get exact quotes from the car rental companies that rent moving vans.
