Sorry you are so bored here... perhaps, on balance, you should have picked Vegas after all. If you'd asked about this holiday business before you moved, we all could have told you.

One poster gave you a link to 32 happenings on July 4th and yet you still could not find something to do. At first other posters wanted to help you out but now we see what your "mantra " is...

You mentioned you were bore to your wits and you referenced Iowa and Michigan as examples of places with superior holiday spirit than the valley of the sun, and meccas of things to do. OOOOKAAAY

I suggest you look into yourself as to the reasons of your boredom. And if your agenda is to distract future residents from the greatest state in the union....good luck because they just " keep a comin "

Sincerely: The six largest soon to be 5th city in these United States of America. HAPPY JULY 4th/

Its not just holidays here that have been a let down. It's life in general here.

I've never referenced Michigan as being superior. I've never even been there.

If people are happy with boring, beige, suburban life, great! This is the place.

Most of the July 4th events on that list catered to kids. This is a very kid centric city. For being the 6th largest, it screams small town USA!

And you could quite possibly have found out before moving here that the Phoenix area is not for you. You might have picked the wrong area here too, being up in one corner of the Valley and not being very interested in driving too far. Perhaps you might want to start looking in other areas of the Valley, including more central locations when you can make a change (if you want to stay here at all).

Westgate is hell. I would never go to a generic shopping mall expecting to be wowed by an event held there.

not hot enough...and boring beige houses .

Perhaps you need to get a hobby that takes advantage of all the nice weather. Did you go hiking this past winter? How about cycling? Swimming?

AGAIN: Learn the state. Phoenix is where I make a living as is the case with most transplants. However the amenities throughout the state and different ecological and climatic zones allows me to truly LIVE. Something I doubt you had in Iowa. Set aside time and discover this state. Phoenix is probably my least favorite part of living in Arizona. Instead of complaining, I focus on getting my fix with seeking the SW culture in small towns scattered throughout the state and parking my RV on the land I own up in Valle which is 30 miles from The Grand Canyon. That way, Phoenix during the M-F work week is decent knowing you have something unique to look forward to on weekends outside of Phoenix.

I didn't move to one of the largest cities in the USA to spend my time driving to small towns. Seriously?

I am not outdoorsy. I've been hiking at several places. Not a fan. Have not ridden a bike since I was 10. No pool. Just a sorry excuse for a water park!

As another recent (2 months) transplant from Iowa, my observation is that due to the heat, the 4th culture/tradition here is different than in the midwest. The tradition here seems to be to spend the day and night with friends in and around the pool, which pretty much nobody in Iowa has or does. I went out to Westworld with the fam last night and it was nice but doesn't have the same 4th vibe as the midwest, but it was still fun for the kids.

As far as moving from Iowa and being bored here.....I cannot relate at all.
