they'll no doubt have thin-crust pizza available....I had thin crust at Malnati's in Chicago and it was great and cut in squares!.....there is some debate that TRUE Chicago-style pizza is NOT thick

Phoenix Pizza Places, Chicago Deep Dish Pizza | Lou Malnati's Restaurants
You're are right. I think most Chicagoians don't eat much deep dish or stuffed pizza. Thin crust in Chicago, the slices are cut in squares and are more of a cracker crust with cornmeal on the bottom of crust. The cheese and sauce go to the very end of the crust. It is very crispy. The cheese and toppings are sometimes well done and the sauce has alot of italian seasonings. This is my favorite Chicago style! If I do have deep dish, Lou Malnati's is one of my go to places though.

I don't feel like we have any shortage of amazing pizza in this town, won't be going out of my way to try it it (including waiting in any ridiculous lines) but if/when I'm nearby at dinner time or get invited to an event there I'll be interested in giving it a try. I'll add that I am a born and raised westerner though, to me pizza always takes a backseat to great mexican food.

Oh my gosh!! We would have LOVED to have Lou Malnati's when we lived in Arizona - being Chicago transplants and all. Maybe we would have stayed - lol. The absolute best pizza evah!

To me, Mexican food will always surpass all other types of food, which barely falls slightly below Thanksgiving!

As a born & bred Arizonan, these New York vs Chicago pizza wars mean nada to me. Again, at the risk of repeating myself, pizza is pizza. It all tastes exactly the same. I'm with you, and pizza takes a serious back seat to Mexican food; in fact, it gets placed all the way back, back, back -- way in the back of the pickup truck -- near the tailgate!

You simply cannot beat a plate of Sonoran Slop, it's the best.

Article overlooks Anita Street Market in Tucson, but their tortillas are unbeatable.
