Hello,

I am sure this has been posted, but everyone is a little different as far as their baggage is concerned. I have been offered a job in Scottsdale and moving from Virginia. I have lived in AZ twice, but not near Phoenix.

About me:
I am 27, married, no kids. I am going to come out by myself first then bring the wifey. I want to get a feel for where to live and what I think would suit us.

Questions:
Where is a nice area to live that isn't too expensive, but not a far commute? I will be working near Fashion Square.
What's a good salary bracket to live comfortably? Would me making 50K be ok? She would find a job as well before moving out there. Keep in mind we only have one car payment, no credit card debt, no loans, etc. We go out occasionally, but are pretty smart with money....Oh and I mentioned no kids

Thanks for any help!! I truly appreciate it.

You won't starve but certainly won't be living the high life on $50k. The area near Fashion Square is great and has a good mix of housing. You should be able to find an older apartment complex that would be affordable and put you within walking/biking distance to work.

Hi Seth, expect to pay around $1000-1200 for rent + utilities if you want to live in walk distance to Fashion Square - that way one car would suffice for a while until you settle in... I know people who live in S. Scottsdale without a car at all so you'll be fine!!!

Thanks for the replies! I have been looking online for roommates at the moment, but I am considering a small studio for cheap. Since it will only be me for the time being I don't need much.
