Tempe is mostly for younger college crowd, downtown still "pulls" late 20's and more early 30s than Tempe is these days. My place was 2 bed 1 bath for $900 a month including water, trash included. The spot was centrally located to downtown, not far from Tempe, Biltmore or airport. I think that's why I loved the location. I could feel Garfield was ripe for a little "gentrifying" here and there, the flavor of the neighborhood is what I don't want it to shed...
Where in the world did you find a 2 bed / 1 bath in Garfield for $900 / month?! Sign me up!

Side note, can a mod PLEASE change the title of the thread to "Tempe to Roosevelt Row?" ... it's really irking me.

I can do that if the OP wants it done

Hear, hear.

Also, for the love of god, don't say "CenPho" for central Phoenix. Either say "central Phoenix", "central", "downtown", or "downtown Phoenix". "Midtown" and "Central Ave" are also acceptable.

CenPho sounds like something you would order at a Vietnamese restaurant. Yes, please, don't say that.

Exactly, last time I looked at Skyline Lofts two years ago, a 1 bedroom was $1,400/month

Geez. I can remember when "central Phoenix" was far north Phoenix.

Yeah, I'm old.

Thank you for explaining that "RoRo" reference.

Craigslist, the other bedroom was pretty small, it also had a basement which is rare in AZ period. It was 2014-2015 so fairly recent. The new landlord put it back up when I moved out for $1100.

The wannabe hipsters are trying to rename everything? I thought Zona & Zonies came from the Fornies? Haven't heard Pheenie, Toosie, or Flaggie yet.

Still not bad for the area. I'm looking for a place around September, wouldn't mind moving downtown!

It is annoying, but these abbreviated nicknames for certain city districts are pretty common all over the country now. New York City has used them for as long as I can remember: specifically SoHo and BedStuy to name two. Even Denver calls its lower downtown area LoDo. They are pretty silly references when you think of it. Frankly, I would rather just call these areas by their full names instead of all these abbreviated phrases to sound "hip".
