It isn't so much the miles as the backups at all the exits, entrances and lights on the detour route. The whole thing is a mess. It was backed up a mile on the 303 on Friday with people trying to make a left onto L. Pleasant Prkwy. The light is timed to let about three cars at a time go through.

The Superbowl party downtown was a PUBLIC event attended by thousands upon thousands of people. It was not a closure to solely benefit a private corporation. I am opposed to S. Mtn Freeway since the junction with I10 is at 51st Avenue instead of the 101.

You're absolutely correct it was a public event but it still impacted thousands of peoples lives for a good 2 weeks closing down the downtown area. I'm sure many of them could care less about the events or football for that matter but it still made their commute everyday a living hell. If you were working downtown I'm sure you'd of hated it too. All's I'm saying is this state seems to only get negative press and I think some should look at things like this as a positive and maybe with a little more of an open mind. It's not like they're closing down the stack during rush hour.

impact thousands??? I would wager that the vast majority of people going to pleasant aren't taking the 303. there is literally no reason to. Take Carefree or Happy valley to lake pleasant parkway. Its a no brainer.

its affecting mere hundreds MAYBE, and an overall impact of what? 7 minutes at most? They didn't close the 17, 101, 87, 60, or any of those actually busy highways

I view this as a good thing. I definitely encourage increased film production in Arizona.

Two reactions... people actually use the 303??? Transformers 5, I didn't even know there was a 3 and 4?

I'm surprised to see people actually use the 303 to commute, especially that stretch. I was on it recently and it was a ghost town anyways. Why not use the opportunity to make some money?

If your complaining now, what did you do a while back when it didn't exist?

I promise they are probably using this time to finish up construction.

I use that stretch of 303 regularly. I live in Surprise, work in N. Phoenix. I would rather take 303 and drive the speed limit than take 101 and crawl to Bell, then crawl on Bell to get to my residence. Is it an inconvenience? Yes. Is it going to ruin my life? No. In fact, I'm glad I saw this thread; I totally forgot it about since Friday

Things were better today than Friday. Did not really notice any delays either way. Just the out of state plates that think people actually drive the speed limit in Arizona. I went up north but used New River Road rather than 74. Maybe the word got out and people made adjustments. Two more days and the taxpayers get their hiway back.

Sorry to disappoint, but I won't be going up that way tomorrow.

My husband commutes on that stretch of road daily and he said the detour added 4 minutes to his trip each way. He was more than happy to spend 8 minutes extra a day on the road so the state could make some money off of Hollywood!
