My newly engaged daughter and son-in-law-to-be arrive in town this weekend, and I'd like to take them out to celebrate. What I'm looking for:

- Very good food
- Not too expensive or fancy (we're simple folk )
- Real valley experience

I live in the north part of town but would go anywhere for the right place.

Thanks in advance!

Can't go wrong with Barrio Cafe. If you want to stay closer to home El Encanto is a good option

Check out the T-Bone Steakhouse where 19th Ave hits the base of South Mountain. The food is good, the atmosphere is definitely old-west, and the view looks over downtown and the west valley.

For really good Italian food, try "Times square" Italian restaurant on 27th ave and deer valley

Good Mexican food. Valle Luna on 35th ave/Bell or cave creek rd/Greenway

Or for a real treat, try Deer Valley Airport, great food, and you can watch the planes take off right outside the windows of the restaurant.

Barrio is solid and safe bet. Stick with some type of Mexican food place since we have some of the best. Also recommend Reyes de la torta for a good bite or maybe Otro cafe for a bit nicer place but also great food and both easy access from north valley.

Take em to the Horny Toad up in Cave Creek. Their fried chicken is amazing, its not expensive, its tucked into the Valley's best scenery, and its about a quintessential Valley-experience as you can find. Take Scottsdale Road all the way up into Carefree, the drive is simply stunning. You'll wow em.
