At least we don't have to shovel sunshine, and scrape sunlight off our windshields, worry about sliding off the road due to built up sunshine, or have sun-plows shovel the sun off the road, or use sugar to keep the sun off the roads.

Just stay out of the sun during the peak afternoon hours, and it's fairly easy to survive the summer in Phoenix. Besides, I look forward to using the pools during peak summer times. In -8 degrees weather there is no equivalent pleasure to look forward to.

I don't fret it. Even during the very worst of winter days, Chicago was still far livelier than Phoenix. Weather didn't stop us from enjoying the city. And yes, there were things to do when it was cold... snowmobiling was big where I lived.

Anyways, if you want to play that game... Chicagoans don't fight over shaded parking spots, deal with 250+ degree cars, don't have to wrap door handles with heat-resistant cloth, spray mist on outdoor dining areas, put up sunshades on everything known to man, replace a/c units/batteries/tires/belts regularly, etc.

Very true, but I nearly broke my back shoveling snow for my elderly relatives during the holidays. I have no idea how to operate a snow blower (or have any desire to learn... ).

Also, Chicago is outrageous expensive. My relative's house is worth less than my house, but property tax is 4 times as much. Everything is more expensive in Chicago. For example, I had to file some real estate deeds for my relatives, at $50 per pop. In Phoenix...only $15.

So overall I'll take Phoenix and the heat over Chicago. I can use my savings to visit Chicago for the twice a year visit and enjoy the cheap cost of living here.

No please don’t play the game

Anyway I’ve been loving the weather it is amazing. Hopefully it can scare off the snowbirds early this year

Totally agree with those "winter" temps. 80's, upper 80's in February, RIDICULOUS!

Also for you heat lovers, this heat means crazy allergy season. Starting much earlier, and maybe LONGER.

Actually, allergy season never really ends here. My biggest issue is tree pollen, so if the early warm weather makes the trees bud early, it will just happen sooner but not necessarily longer. The same thing happened when I lived in the Midwest when we had a warm winter, my allergies there kicked in about a month early. (but there, they ended, here they never do)

Move to the desert they said. No more allergies they said. WRONG!

We didn't have a freeze this year, which exacerbated the problem. First freeze is the typical end of an allergy season.
