I dont understand why people who hate living somewhere so much dont just pack their bags and go somewhere else..who wants to hate where they live so much, yet not do anything about it?
That's always flabbergasted me too. I think there are people that just love to complain....that person could be in Nirvana and would find things to complain about. I have a friend where I work that is like that...he's a professional complainer.

Of course, some of the complaints are valid to semi-valid and people know it....most people accept it, try to improve it or move to a place that doesn't have those negatives.

Some of the hate comes from ridiculous exaggerations or stereotypes that stem from what those people see in the media. For years, Arizona was portrayed as a vast hot desert with nothing but snakes and cowboys. Now, it's largely portrayed as a hot sprawling suburban cookie cutter wasteland thanks to how a good part of the Phoenix area has developed. As you said, some of the complaints are valid. The negative comments which do have some truth shouldn't be brushed off. Anybody who truly loves living here should be interested in making improvements in order to wipe away those negative images.

I don't understand this opposition to newcomers. I moved here 17 years ago from the East Coast myself. I suppose you don't think I should of moved here either.....😒

Right! I think many just dont want the area to become overly populated. Cheaper cost of living in the west region will bring many but the heat should have many leaving also.

Everyone who moves here degrades the quality of life for those already here. That includes me. But I came here (sent by the Army actually) over 40 years ago when there were less than a million people here and "the resource" was not taxed beyond its limits like it is now. I don't know exactly when the limit was reached but I would say Peak Phoenix was probably in the early 1990s. It has been downhill since then as a nice place to live.

I always find this argument interesting too, like how many newcomers should not be here in a nation of immigrants

It's "should have", not "should of".
