There are a lot of them with big wallets up that way, too, and they want more than go to Chilis. I don't know that one could find a restaurant that puts 2 oz. of food on a plate with a sprig of garnish and charges $80 for it, but there are more restaurants in the NW than one could go to in a long, long time.

Yes, there is no Fashion Square. Tragic.
Look, there are positives to the area, but let’s not pretend it is what it isn’t.

The OP never said "world class dining" close to home was a requisite.

Or Arizona. At best we are a glorified cow town that lacks urban sophistication. Even in the west's most mid-western town (if you have lived here long enough to know that moniker).

No, but suggesting that being close to Sun City is somehow an answer to their desire to dine out and be near "like Scottsdale" amenities is a joke.

I like dining out.
Good, because you're close to Sun City.

Come on. Are we really that basic?

That is precisely my advice to all the east siders who have never been anywhere near north Peoria (or Goodyear or Surprise, for that matter)in the last couple decades yet pass out their "advice" and analysis.

Simmer down. No one suggested that being close to Sun City was like Scottsdale. We all know that there is nothing that rises to the level of sophistication that world class Scottsdale offers. But if eating out (at dumpsters with chairs) and shopping in second hand stores is your cup of tea then Vistancia will work. Happy?

Hopefully the OP can separate the snobbery and provincialism from the facts.

You should really step out of your summer hibernation chamber and get out more, because the area's food scene has really evolved. Elements, Binkley's, Tratto and Mora area all run by world-renowned chefs. Binkley's would absolutely have a Michelin star if located elsewhere. $700 per couple (with wine) and they sell out and have nothing but rave reviews. locolife also provided a great list of unique, terrific dining options. That just scratches the surface. We have a thriving restaurant scene.

Re-read the posts. The OP asked for proximity to "areas like Scottsdale" and the suggestion was "the Sun Cities".

Wow. $350 a head for dinner. That's well beyond my meager means. Even the tip would break my piggy bank. It does raise the question of what in the name of heaven could you serve up that is worth that? They could make it "real Arizona" though if they tossed in windshield chip repair while you dine. That would be helpful for those of us who chose to live in more affordable parts of town yet crave the high life of Scottsdale.

It's actually in Phoenix and the price includes a 22% gratuity. You can save $180 by skipping the wine pairings. It's a pricey affair, but would be even more so in SF, NYC, Chicago, etc. The point is, cow-towns don't have such offerings.
