Article from the Republic in 2015: https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...sses/23776839/

Quote:
Jerry and Katherine Hanna searched more than a decade for a place to build a second home away from the freezing cold of their Edmonton, Alberta, suburb.

They considered Florida, "but when we were there, they got hit with Hurricane Charley," Jerry said... (cont.)

Article from 2017: https://www.azcentral.com/story/mone...rea/505404001/

Quote:
...When I wrote about the trend of more Canadians starting to sell instead of buy in the Phoenix-area last year, I received many emails and calls from Canadians telling me how much they love Arizona's desert and don't plan on selling.

We owe our neighbors to the north a big thank you. The record number of Canadians buying Valley houses during the crash helped our housing market recover more quickly.

And who can blame an owner for selling when the value of their house has more than doubled? That’s part of the American way...

ASU's Carey School 2016 domestic (states) migration report: https://wpcarey.asu.edu/sites/defaul...ation05-16.pdf

Quote:
Bottom of page 21: ...By far, the largest number of domestic in-migrants to Arizona come from neighboring
California, the most-populous state. Between 2001 and 2014, California accounted for 23.4
percent of Arizona’s domestic in-migrants. The second-largest number came from Texas, which

Canadians do have a large presence here but as was stated up stream here, many bought 2nd homes when the Canadian Dollar was strong and then sold a couple of years ago. If you are really interested, there is a AZ/Canada business consortium: CABC

I always hope that the Canadian presence here will provide an impetus for more nonstop flights between Sky Harbor and Canadian cities. Right now, to the best of my knowledge, we have nonstop service only to Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal -- the four largest cities in Canada. I'd also think we'd have the critical mass for nonstop flights to Winnipeg and Edmonton; however, if many seasonal residents are driving between Arizona and the western provinces, that might explain why there isn't the passenger traffic to justify more nonstop service.

Good point about seasonal service. I had never thought to check airlines schedules during the winter because my visits to Canada have always been in the summer to escape the heat. I see now that WestJet offers seasonal nonstops to Edmonton and Winnipeg. Which airlines flies between Phoenix and Saskastoon?

Just for your knowledge Saskatoon is cold in the winter but has fantastic summers.
June to Sept is in the 80's and sunny almost everyday.

I will keep it in mind. Saskatchewan is one province I haven't visited yet.
