Hi forum,

I am looking to get my house more secure as I work away from home from time to time, I already have ADT and ring cameras, I am interested in making my windows shatter proof or exploring shutter options, as well as suggestions for making rear door more secure (gate, kick plate etc), if you have any recommendations or companies you can recommend please let me know, also price if you did it?

I am not interested in window bars at this time mainly for cosmetic reasons. In my neighborhood there have been some tweekers that will shatter the windows and even with an alarm sounding make a quick purge of what they can before PD arrives so looking to make it a bit more secured.

Thanks as always to anyone who replies.

Google "Door Jamb Armor" There are also online posts about taking out the short screws that secure the striker plate and replacing them with 2" screws that go into the joists.

For windows, I think most window companies have a shatter-proof version. You can go Low-E, get the quiet from dual-pane, and have windows someone simply cannot bust through. That doesn't look any more secure, though.

Plant thorny bushes under windows, add motion-sensor lights, maybe get a camera kit rather than just a Ring.

For window security, look at 3M's security film: Here's a demonstration video:
