They closed that one when the new store by ASU opened. I wonder if their website is a bit behind, as if there was a need for a second Tempe store, I would not think they would have closed the Baseline store as soon as the downtown store opened.

South Tempe has easy access to the Chandler Whole Foods at Ray and 101 and of course North Tempe has the new location at University/Ash. I remember shopping at the Tempe location many years before Whole Foods became "cool"

I believe that many years ago, there was a plan for a West Valley store. Then the mortgage crisis hit, and it was scrapped.

In the last “Why No Whole Foods in the West Valley” complaint thread, someone pointed out Sprouts dominates the market in the Phoenix metro.

About the only thing I ever want at Whole Paycheck is their chocolate mousse. Yummmm....

Okay, the freshly made pizza by the slice, too.

Whole foods has not really grown since purchased by Amazon. Amazon just wanted their distribution to open up their own stores. I don't think it has anything to do with demographics, their competitors are opening stores all over.

In one intersection I frequent in Gilbert there is a Sprouts, Natural Grocers and Trader Joe's all in the same place and all 3 seem to do pretty well. Whole Foods is losing a lot of market share by choosing not to expand.
